Our traditional forging methods include heat tempering and clay tempering. All of our blades are full tang, engraved with the signature of the swordsmith, and capable of being fully disassembled and assembled. Most of our functional blades are made of high carbon content steel, with options also available in stainless steel or aluminum alloy for Iaido training swords. Our tsuba and other fittings are mostly crafted from brass, with a variety of materials including copper, iron, or alloy used depending on each individual tsuba. Furthermore, our handles and scabbards are made from wood or other specified materials, with most handles covered in ray skin and Japanese cotton Ito.

When you purchase a sword from Handmade Sword, it will come with one assembled sword with saya (scabbard), a black cotton bag, and a tube cardboard sword box. Please note that the sword stand is not included. One of our featured products is the stainless steel, unsharpened edge, fully handmade Japanese Wakizashi training sword, which includes an Empire Wheel pattern tsuba, full tang with Hi, practical design, and measures approximately 21" in blade length, 9.5" in handle length, and 32.5" overall. The wooden handle is covered with ray skin and wrapped with black cotton cord, while the black piano lacquered wooden scabbard is tied with black cotton Sageo.
